In 1980 at age eighteen, Benedikt Taschen opened a comic book shop in Cologne so that he could sell his huge personal collection. However, the shop grew so fast that this super young entrepreneur had to expand. He asked himself why cultural enrichment was only intended for high society and eventually decided he wanted to change this. Around the end of the 80’s Benedikt Taschen started re-releasing expense art books under his own name , for a reasonable price.Today, Taschen is an important concept in the world of art books.
